Saturday, July 31, 2010 4:30am A pit bull woke up its owners to warn them of a fire in their Pleasant Mills Road home early Saturday 7/31/10, but the dog itself died in the fire, which destroyed much of the ranch house. Nine people who had been sleeping in the home shortly before 4:30 a.m. all got out unhurt. "This really could have been a tragedy if the dog didn't do what it did" said Dennis LaSassa, assistant chief of the Hammonton Fire Department. When we arrived the flames were shooting out of the rear of the home. From the help of Elwood, Collings Lakes, Nesco, and Winslow township the fire was under control in about 45 minutes after arriving. Although much of the house was destroyed the residents were able to salvage some belongings. We would like to thank Elwood, Collings Lakes, Nesco, and Winslow township for assisting us in this blaze.
On Saturday April 24, 2010 our friend and brother firefighter was involved in a serious motorcycle accident after an inattentive driver turned in front of him without warning. After spending a week in ICU Jack still has a long road of rehabilitation and operations ahead. Please help us support him.
